Best Scotch Gifts 2014

There's no doubt about it, if you're looking for a gift for a whisky lover, a bottle of single malt will always be well received. However, if you're looking for something a little different, or maybe something that will last for a long time as a memory or keepsake, there are plenty of options available to you.

Whisky decanters always make a really classy gift. You don't need to decant whisky of course. It's not like wine; it won't change its flavor due to exposure to air (that's because it has a high alcohol by volume content - 40% or higher). Nevertheless, a nice decanter, with some nice whisky in it, looks great.

A nice, heavy whisky glass is also a popular choice - as is a whisky flask. Whisky chilling stones are becoming more popular with whisky lovers who want a cool drink without melting ice diluting their dram and spoiling the flavor.

Those are just some of the available options. Here's a nice visual presentation of some of the best Scotch gifts 2014 - just click on it to view.

Lead Free Crystal Whisky Glasses

Whisky glasses need to be lead free these days (of course).

I must admit, I do like the feel of a nice heavy crystal glass when I'm having a whisky. It adds to the experience somehow.

Whilst I do like the Glencairn type of glass, especially when I'm sampling a new whisky for the first time, for more "casual" imbibing, I tend to like the classic tumbler type a little more.

A bit less fussy, a little bit more down to earth - but still with a little gravitas to it if you know what I mean.

Anyway, here's a collection of lead free crystal glasses which I cobbled together on Glossi. I really like the Waldorf glass. That's it on the "cover". It's a classic. Just enough decoration to be interesting, and more than a little stylish, without becoming a distraction from the main event (just my opinion of course).
